Lottery player ‘struck gold’ with Maryland ticket. ‘I’ve never seen so many zeroes’
For years, a Maryland woman chased after a big lottery win.
In search of a noteworthy prize, she made “countless scratch-off purchases,” Maryland Lottery officials said in a Nov. 21 news release.
Her “years of dedication” led her to buy a $30 instant ticket for the $100,000 Ca$h game at a Rite Aid in Severna Park, lottery officials said.
When she scanned her ticket, she was “stunned” by the “life-changing message,” lottery officials said.
“I’ve never seen so many zeros,” the woman told lottery officials.
The woman won $100,000 and had finally “struck gold,” lottery officials said.
“My heart was beating so fast, I thought it was going to come out of my chest,” the woman said.
She told lottery officials she quickly left the store and “rushed home to share the thrilling news” with family.
The woman already has plans in mind for her winnings.
“I’ll get ahead on bills and help my family members,” the woman said. “And, of course, I’ll keep playing. It’s my hobby.”
The $100,000 Ca$h game debuted in September 2023 with five dozen top prizes of $100,000, lottery officials said. Now, 50 such prizes remain.
Severna Park is about a 20-mile drive south from Baltimore.
