Middle GA schools delay hours amid severe weather, tornado warnings. See list
Several Middle Georgia schools announced schedule changes Thursday morning as severe storms and tornado warnings moved through the area.
School officials said some districts will operate on a delayed start, while others canceled classes altogether. Power outages and road closures have been reported in some communities. Districts said they will continue to monitor the weather to ensure safety for all students and staff.
Here are school districts that have announced changes:
- Bibb County Schools are delayed by one hour. High schools start at 8:30 a.m. Elementary schools start at 8:30 a.m. Middle schools start at 10:05 a.m.
- Absences are excused all day in Jones County.
- Monroe County Schools start at 9 a.m.
- Bus transportation for Peach County Schools has been paused, and routes will continue after severe weather advisories are lifted, school officials said.
- The Houston County School District will begin 30 minutes later than normal, as bus transportation resumes. All tardies will be excused.
