Woman injured in Macon shooting dies. Suspect now charged with murder, deputies say

A woman critically injured by gunfire this month has died, and the suspect arrested in the shooting now faces a murder charge.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office found Alasia Smith, 24, with gunshot wounds in a home in the 1500 block of Westminster Drive on May 5. She was reportedly shot during a domestic dispute, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Smith was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office said Smith had died and the initial charge of aggravated assault against Anthony Allen, 29, was upgraded to felony murder, according to the news release.

Allen also faces a charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
