A man allegedly killed his wife, daughter, dog and cat when officers pulled up to evict the family from a gated community in north Macon, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
Then he died by suicide, Coroner Leon Jones told The Telegraph.
Deputies heard gunshots when they approached the family’s Lake Wildwood home Tuesday morning, but nobody responded for about two hours, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
SWAT teams and other units tried to negotiate to get them out, and eventually entered the home around noon, deputies said.
Inside, authorities found the man’s wife, daughter, dog and cat dead from gunshot wounds, Jones said.
Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said that two women died from gunshot wounds, and a man was critically injured from a reportedly “self-inflicted” wound.
He died at a hospital hours later, Jones said.
Their family members had not yet been notified of their deaths, according to Jones, who is tasked with doing so.
“I can’t find the family,” he said around 6:30 p.m. “I’ve been working on it all day.”
It was unclear why the family was being evicted.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to The Telegraph’s requests for updates.
