A Monroe County attorney will serve time in prison after pleading guilty in a 2020 deadly truck crash in Macon, court records show.

Larry Moore pleaded Monday to homicide by vehicle in the first degree and was sentenced to three years in prison and 12 months on probation, according to records. He was also fined $300.

Moore, who records show was an attorney based in Forsyth, also must complete 40 hours of community service and a Driving Under the Influence Risk Reduction Program, according to court records.

What happened?

Moore was driving a Ford truck when it left the roadway and went down an embankment on Aug. 8, 2020, according to previous Telegraph coverage. The truck hit the side of a train that was stationary on the railroad tracks, then rolled before coming to a stop.

Clinton Nettles, who was riding in a rear seat, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office release at the time.

Moore admitted that he drove the car “while his alcohol concentration was more than 0.8 grams within three hours after driving from alcohol consumed before such driving ended,” according to his indictment from 2023.
