Investigators: Teen who was shot at Macon gas station was the ‘primary aggressor’
The 17-year-old who was shot at a Macon gas station this week pulled a gun on the person who shot him, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office.
The shooting, which happened Friday at the BP gas station at 815 Shurling Drive, left the teenager in critical condition. Investigators released a photo of a person of interest shortly after the incident and said they were looking for that person. Saturday morning, the sheriff’s office said the person of interest voluntarily identified himself and was interviewed by investigators.
Through that interview, plus a review of surveillance footage from the gas station sheriff’s office was able to determine that the teen who was shot was actually the “primary aggressor” of the incident.
“The primary aggressor brandished a firearm in an attempt to rob the person of interest of a firearm in his possession,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “During the primary aggressor’s attempt to disarm the person of interest by force, the person of interest legally defended himself against the imminent threat imposed against him.”
No charges have been filed against the person who shot the teen, but the case is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
