Teen accused of murder at Macon gas station turns himself in, deputies say
A 17-year-old turned himself into law enforcement and was charged with murder in the killing of a teenager Wednesday in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement issued warrants for the 17-year-old’s arrest hours after the fatal shooting, which happened around noon Wednesday at a Citgo gas station, 1904 Shurling Drive, deputies said. De’Kerrio Jamontez Cobb, 18, was shot to death outside the door of the gas station convenience store, surveillance video showed.
The 17-year-old contacted investigators Thursday and “turned himself over to investigators” before 10 p.m., a news release from the sheriff’s office said Friday.
Deputies believe the person who appeared to shoot Cobb and flee the scene in the surveillance video was the 17-year-old, Sgt. Christopher Williams told The Telegraph
The Telegraph does not name crime suspects under the age of 18.
The teen was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, deputies said.
He was taken to the Bibb County Jail and held without bond.
