Man sentenced for role in Macon crash that caused 84-year-old Peach County woman’s death
A man pleaded guilty to causing the death of an 84-year-old Peach County woman in October 2021 and was sentenced Monday, according to court documents.
Jonathan Scott Hooks pleaded guilty to first-degree vehicular homicide, stemming from the death of Tilda Wilson, 84, of Byron, on Oct. 24, 2021. Hooks was driving his Ford Mustang when he struck Wilson’s Chevy Cobalt on the Interstate 475 interchange near Middle Georgia State University, according to court documents and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in a statement at the time.
Wilson was making a left turn across Eisenhower’s westbound lanes to head onto the freeway’s northbound on-ramp when the crash occurred, according to Bibb County deputies.
As a result, Hooks was sentenced Monday to serve four years in prison, followed by 11 years of probation, court records show. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and complete 120 hours of community service within 60 months of release.
Hooks would also need to complete a risk reduction driving course, according to court records.
