84-year-old Middle Georgia woman dies of injuries from car crash near I-475 in Macon

An 84-year-old Peach County woman died Tuesday of injuries she sustained in a two-car wreck on Eisenhower Parkway in west Macon on Sunday, officials said.

The woman, Tilda Wilson, of Byron, was critically injured when the Chevy Cobalt she was driving was struck by a Ford Mustang at the Interstate 475 interchange near Middle Georgia State University, Bibb County sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

The crash happened at about 2 p.m. as Wilson was making a left turn across Eisenhower’s westbound lanes to head onto the freeway’s northbound on-ramp. A Fort Valley man, 35, at the wheel of the Mustang, was headed west on Eisenhower when the cars collided. He suffered what were described as “minor injuries.”

The wreck was said to be under investigation on Tuesday and that no charges had been filed.
