Gang and racketeering investigation brings more officers to Warner Robins
More law enforcement officers were in Warner Robins on Wednesday as they pursued an investigation related to gangs and racketeering, according to the Warner Robins Police Department.
Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were helping search several sites in the city during “a complex coordinated operation,” police said in a news release.
Drivers may see traffic delays because of the depth of the investigation, officers said.
“There are multiple locations in which search warrants are being conducted in the City of Warner Robins which may impact traffic movements in those areas,” police said. It was unclear which areas might be affected.
The investigation was led by WRPD Narcotics Investigations Unit and Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Middle Georgia Gang Task Force. They were assisted by the United States Marshals Service, Georgia State Patrol, and five sheriff’s and police departments in Middle Georgia.
“We are asking for the community’s patience as we accomplish these above referenced activities,” the WRPD news release said.
The police department and the GBI denied The Telegraph’s requests for more details.
Sara R. Lue, director of the GBI’s Public and Governmental Affairs, said the agency will provide more information in a news release Thursday.
