16-year-old with gunshot wounds found dead in west Macon driveway

A teenager died after being shot Sunday night in west Macon, deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Soldad Court after 911 received a call of a person shot just before midnight on Sunday. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the 16-year-old boy “unresponsive in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound,” deputies said in the news release.

Deputy Coroner Richard Robertson later declared the teenager dead on the scene, despite emergency aid being rendered, the news release said. The next of kin has been notified.

Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are still determining what led to the shooting, according to the news release. They encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-677-68CRIME.
