What we know about Middle GA councilwoman charged in connection to Miami killer’s arrest

After a Miami killer was wrongly released from jail last week, law enforcement allege they found him hiding in a Middle Georgia councilwoman’s house.

Law enforcement were looking for James Edward Daniels, convicted of torturing and killing two people in Miami, after he was mistakenly released from jail. They found him in Timishea Price’s house on Mimms Street in Reynolds, according to a press release from Lonnie Holder, the chief of the Reynolds Police Department.

When the U.S. Marshals Service showed up to Price’s home, they asked if Daniels was there, “to which Ms. Price responded in the negative,” Reynolds police said in their news release.

“Ms. Price consented to a search of the residence by the U.S. Marshals,” police said. “James Edward Daniels was found and apprehended inside the residence ....”

As a result, she was charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal, Reynolds police said.

Though she was briefly in custody at the Taylor County Jail, she was released on a $5,000 bond Thursday evening, according to a news release from the Reynolds Police Department.

Who is Timishea Price?

Price is a Reynolds councilmember representing Post 5, according to the city’s website. She took office in January 2022. Price also shared that she was born in Miami in a conversation with the Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia chapter, a few years ago.

Reynolds City Clerk Sissy Laughlin said Friday she could not comment about Price’s status on city council due to an ongoing investigation.

As of Friday, it was unclear when Price would appear in court for the charge. The Telegraph has not been able to reach Price for comment.

Latest on man convicted in two killings, found in Middle Georgia

Daniels was found guilty of kidnapping and torturing Osmar Oliva, Julio Verdecia and Juan Gonzalez in December 2020. While Oliva and Gonzalez were killed, Verdecia was able to survive, according to multiple media reports.

He was sentenced to serve multiple life sentences in prison, according to federal court records, but an arrest warrant filed into court records says he was released “in error” by the Florida Department of Corrections on Sept. 26. Investigators previously said on social media he was released by mistake on Sept. 27.

Daniels was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service after he was found in Reynolds. He was scheduled to appear in federal court in Macon Thursday, but records show the court appearance was canceled. It’s unclear if he has been taken back to Miami yet. The U.S. Marshals Service couldn’t be reached prior to publication.

The case was still under investigation Friday.
