Man accused of killing stepson no longer faces murder charge. Here’s why
A former Macon murder suspect no longer faces charges after he was accused of shooting and killing his stepson, as a grand jury determined that there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute him, according to Susan Ryan, spokesperson for the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Wednesday.
Deputies had accused Pierre Rodriguez Williams of the shooting death of his stepson, Couri Woodford Jr., in June.
But on Sept. 16, the Bibb County Superior Court grand jury declined to indict him on one count of felony murder. That charge carried the possibility of life in prison, according to court records.
Woodford died after being shot just after 11 p.m. at a house in the 3300 block of Majestic Lane on June 26, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The grand jury “no-billed” the case because there wasn't sufficient evidence, Ryan said. The district attorney’s office also struggled with getting the cooperation of witnesses in the case, Ryan said.
Ryan encourages anyone with additional information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The case could proceed if more evidence is presented.
