Shooting left homeless man dead in Macon, official says. Investigation ongoing
A homeless man was the victim of the fatal shooting that happened Sunday in west Macon, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
The shooting happened near a homeless encampment on Eisenhower Parkway and Harrison Road, Coroner Leon Jones said.
Deputies responded to a wooded area near Murphy USA gas station at 6040 Harrison Road, which was surrounded by crime scene tape and patrol cars Sunday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook.
No one was arrested in connection to the shooting by Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim was identified as Nelson Reynolds Crenshaw III, a 46-year-old man from Fort Valley, according to the coroner’s office.
Crenshaw’s body was expected to undergo an autopsy Wednesday, Jones said.
