Investigators follow new leads, make arrests years after Macon murder, deputies say
New leads on a 2017 murder led to three recent arrests in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday.
Macon man, 53-year-old Michael Baxley, was robbed and shot to death at his home on Nov. 6, 2017, in west Macon, The Telegraph previously reported.
“There’s blood everywhere,” Coroner Leon Jones previously told The Telegraph. “Anytime there’s blood, you’ve got to expand the investigation.”
Investigators initially interviewed neighbors who might have known Baxley.
Seven years later, the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted the sheriff’s office to arrest two siblings and a 25-year-old Macon man. Investigators issued the arrest warrants for murder on Feb. 7, according to the sheriff’s office.
One sibling, Haley Wilson, was already incarcerated in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for criminal trespassing, an investigator found.
The task force arrested her 33-year-old sister, Brittany Wilson, without incident Friday. The Macon woman was taken to the Bibb County Jail.
The fugitive task force also arrested 25-year-old Daniel Crafton of Macon without incident around 11 a.m. on Thursday. He was taken to the Bibb County jail.
The suspects were being held without bond.
