Local man charged with murder in August shooting of teenage driver in southwest Macon
A Macon man was charged with murder Wednesday after being linked to the shooting death of a teenager more than a month prior, officials said.
Matthew Milner Jr., 21, was charged with the murder of Jamaya Warner, 18, after police connected him to the shooting that killed her back on Aug. 19, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Milner was already in jail for charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony related to a separate case.
Warner and a 21-year-old passenger were driving at the corner of Dellwood Drive and Dellwood Court in southwest Macon Aug. 19 at around 11:30 p.m. when someone fired shots into the car. The two drove to a nearby Circle K on Thomaston Road and called the police.
Warner was dead at the scene, Bibb deputy coroner Luanne Stone said. The passenger was not hurt.
Milner was out on bond at the time of the murder for charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult. He is now being held without bond.
