Man arrested, charged with murder in Macon homicide, Bibb police say

Editor’s note: The victim’s name has been spelled two different ways by Bibb County authorities. The Telegraph believes the spelling in this story is accurate.

A 27-year-old man was arrested by Bibb County Sheriff deputies Sunday evening in connection with a homicide that occurred in Macon on Sunday morning, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Randy Singleton Jr. turned himself in to investigators for the killing of Ashley Heberling, and was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center after being interviewed, according to the release.

Heberling, 29, was found lying outside of her apartment Masseyville Road after being shot around 10 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to Navicent Health where she later died from her injuries.

Singleton fled the scene before deputies arrived, according to the release.

Singleton was charged with murder and is being held without bond.
