A man found dead yesterday in Macon was stabbed, coroner says
A local man found dead Thursday morning was stabbed in the neck, according to authorities.
Randall Head, 51, was found by construction workers around 10 a.m. Thursday behind the shopping center containing Ollie’s Bargain Outlet on Mercer University Drive.
Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said on Friday that Head’s death was being investigated as a homicide.
Construction workers were working on a sewage line when they found Head six feet down an embankment behind the restaurant, Jones said.
Head was last seen leaving his home on April 25 and was reported missing on April 27. His body was taken to the Gerogia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy. Head is Macon’s 20th homicide in 2020.
“We have no idea what killed this gentleman or how he died,” Jones said Thursday after Head was found.
Head has a history of medical problems, and his family has been notified. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
