UPDATE: Man found dead in Macon identified

Police have identified the man found dead Thursday morning.

Randall Head, 51, was found by construction workers around 10 a.m. behind a shopping center in the 3000 block of Mercer University Drive.

Construction workers were working on a sewage line when they found Head six feet down an embankment behind the restaurant, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Head was last seen leaving his home on April 25 and was reported missing on April 27. The area is an active crime scene.

“We have no idea what killed this gentleman or how he died,” Jones said.

Head has a history of medical problems, but Jones said an autopsy will be performed to verify the cause of death .His family has been notified.
