4th person arrested on murder charge after Macon man shot while answering the door

A fourth person has been arrested on a murder charge Wednesday in connection with the shooting of a man last week in the doorway of a Moreland Avenue home.

Terrance Lewis Ates, 26, was arrested early Wednesday in the 200 block of Hampton Road without incident by Bibb and Twigg county deputies and U.S. marshals with the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to Bibb County sheriff’s officials. He was being held without bond at the Bibb County jail.

Three others were arrested earlier this week.

Sunday night, 17-year-old Johniya Latice Chappell was arrested by Bibb County sheriff’s investigators in the shooting death of 30-year-old Johntavies Dangelo Coleman, of Macon, on Thursday.

Monday night, 20-year-old Xytwuan Monjai Calloway, of Forsyth, and 27-year-old Shawn Jeremy Robinson, of Macon, also were arrested on murder charges.

Calloway and Robinson were taken into custody without incident in the 1000 block of Scotland Avenue by Bibb deputies and U.S. marshals for the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

So for this year, there have been five homicides in Macon-Bibb County. All the victims died from gunshot wounds. Here are the other four:

Early Saturday, 25-year-old Deion Farley was found lying at the end of the driveway of an alleged “shot house” on Patterson Street. A shot house is a house where alcohol is sold illegally by the drink.

On Jan. 23, 19-year-old Jahfari Shakwun Bullard was found lying in the road near the intersection of Ferguson and Lamar streets by deputies who responded to a report of a shooting just before 9:30 p.m. He died at 1:25 a.m. Jan. 24 at the Medical Center, Navicent Health. Germori Amel Mallory, 21, of Macon, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Bullard’s death.

On Jan. 22, Norbert Volmar Jr., 36, was found shot dead at a boarding house about 10 p.m. on Roy Street by another resident. He was shot in the head.

On Jan. 21, 37-year-old Michael Alvin Lewis was found shot to death in a yard along Forest Hill Road. He’d been shot in the back and chest about 9:30 p.m.
