Man found shot dead outside alleged ‘shot house’ on Patterson Street, Bibb coroner says

A Macon man was found shot dead outside an alleged “shot house” on Patterson Street early Saturday, the coroner says.

Deion Farley, 25, was found lying at the end of the driveway, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

A shot house is a house where alcohol is sold illegally by the drink.

Farley had been shot once in the head, according to Bibb County sheriff’s officials.

He was discovered lying partially in the driveway and partially in the roadway in the 900 block of Patterson Street by arriving deputies responding to a 3:48 a.m. 911 call, authorities said.

The shooting may be Macon-Bibb’s fifth homicide of the year, Jones said.

“It’s a very, very suspicious death,” Jones said. “He’s lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head.”

The weapon was not recovered and multiple witnesses gave authorities multiple accounts of what may have happened, Jones said.

A couple of neighbors said they were awakened by the sound of a single gunshot but didn’t go outside to see what had happened. They said they did not know anything other that that there had been a shooting and sheriff’s deputies had been on site.

Bibb County sheriff’s Sgt. Linda Howard confirmed that the 948 Patterson Street residence is an alleged shot house.

No one answered when a Telegraph reporter knocked on the door of the Patterson Street residence Saturday.

Patterson Street is off Pio Nono Avenue. Where the shooting took place is less than a half mile from Miller Magnet Middle School.

No other information was released.

“This incident is still in the early stages of investigation,” Howard said in an email. “We are still following up on leads.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
