Man who threatened to ‘shoot up’ Continental Tire with AK-47 had guns at home, GBI says
A Continental Tire employee at the Aldora Mill in Lamar County was arrested after saying he was planning on “shooting up the place” with an AK-47 rifle, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Michael C. Hudgins, 24, was arrested by GBI agents on a terroristic threats and acts charge, according to a statement released Friday.
Hudgins is accused of telling another Continental Tire employee of his plans to carry out the assault and that they shouldn’t come to work Saturday, the GBI said.
Hudgins was arrested at his Barnesville home where agents found several firearms.
He was not permitted to have firearms as a first offender probationer for an undisclosed offense, GBI said. First offender means a felony conviction is wiped off a criminal record if the person successfully completes their probation.
More than three ounces of suspected methamphetamine and also suspected marijuana was also discovered in outbuilding on the property.
Hudgins was also charged with theft by receiving a stolen firearm, seven counts of possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
This arrest stems from an investigation by the GBI’s Milledgeville office and Lamar County sheriff’s investigators.
