Crawford County court clerk accused of embezzling more than $4,000, GBI says

A Crawford Court court clerk was arrested Friday in connection with the theft of over $4,000.

Lindsay Gilmore-Hudson, 39, a seven-year employee of the Crawford County Probate Court, was charged with theft by taking and providing false statements, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation news release.

In late November, the GBI was asked to assist with a Crawford County investigation into a possible theft/embezzlement.

The investigation found that Gilmore-Hudson allegedly embezzled the Probate Court funds between March and November of last year.

J.T. Ricketson, special agent in charge of the GBI office in Perry, declined to elaborate on the case except to say that Gilmore-Hudson had access to public funds in her role as a court clerk.

The GBI investigation is ongoing.

When the investigation has been completed, the investigative file will be turned over to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, which includes Crawford County, for review.
