A sub shop is coming south of the new Red Owl Coffee Company in Warner Robins
A popular sandwich shop is coming to Warner Robins just south of the yet-to-open Red Owl Coffee Company off South Houston Lake Road.
Jimmy John’s is known for a variety of sub sandwiches made with fresh-baked bread, hand-sliced meats and fresh veggies.
“I’m obviously excited about going to Warner Robins and being able to serve more people in the Middle Georgia area,” said William Amos, who owns and operates multiple Jimmy John’s in Middle Georgia, including in Macon.
“We think our product is unique in that we slice everything — our veggies fresh, our meat fresh — every day, and prep it to serve so that we can get it to you fast … We think the speed at which we are able to serve you by doing all the work ahead of time really sets us apart,” Amos said.
The new Warner Robins location is targeted to open in the third quarter of this year, said Amos, who makes his home in Perry with his wife Alex, a special education teacher at David Perdue Primary, their infant son, John Murray Amos, who was born Jan. 1, and their dog, Sanford.
What’s for dinner?
The most popular Jimmy John’s sandwiches, according to Amos, include the #9 Italian Night Club with salami, capocollo, ham, provolone, onion, oil and vinegar, oregano-basil, mayonnaise, tomato and lettuce.
Another popular choice is the #4 Turkey Tom with turkey, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato.
While subs are their specialty, sandwiches can also be made on square wheat bread, a tortilla wrap, or an “unwich” — which is a lettuce wrap, he said.
Sides include a variety of Jimmy John’s chips, homestyle potato salad, pesto bowtie pasta salad and pickles, according to the menu. Desserts include a fudge chocolate chip brownie and chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies.
Jimmy John’s also offers catering, with the most popular option being the boxed lunch that includes sandwich, chip, cookie, and pickle spear, according to Amos.
From an accounting job to owning franchise restaurants
The new Warner Robins location is expected to have dine-in seating, a drive-thru, possible patio seating and its own delivery service, said Amos, who left an accounting position to own and operate Jimmy John’s franchise restaurants in 2022.
Amos started with purchasing Jimmy John’s restaurants in Macon at 781 Spring St., Suite 102, and 4650 Forsyth Road, Suite 155, in August 2022. He’s also since purchased locations in Tifton, Valdosta and Thomasville.
Additionally, Amos, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia, sold his Woodstock location to consolidate operations in Middle Georgia. His company is called Middle Georgia Subs.
In late October, Amos opened the first Jimmy John’s in Middle Georgia to offer drive-thru service in Byron at 408 North Ga. 49 in a new multi-unit, 3,500-square-foot-plus building. Jimmy John’s is located on the east side of the building in a 1,500-square-foot suite.
The new 1,500-square-foot Warner Robins restaurant will be similar — expected to be located in a suite of a to-be-constructed, 5,000-square-foot building that original site plans called for the development of a seafood restaurant.
Revised plans for the site have not yet been submitted to the city of Warner Robins by local developer Allen Shackelford, who shared that “we’ve rearranged the puzzle a little” in a text.
The site is anchored by a new Red Owl Coffee Company “coming soon” at 1272 South Houston Lake Road. No word yet on an opening date.
Known for its in-house roasted coffee beans, Red Owl Coffee Company offers daily brews, signature coffee drinks, frappe, teas, smoothies, milkshakes and energy drinks.
Food choices include breakfast and lunch sandwiches, bagels, muffins and more, according to the menu.
The first Red Owl Coffee Company in Middle Georgia opened in September 2023.
