Sauces not at right temps for food safety. Warner Robins restaurant gets a ‘C’

Sauces above the required temperature for food safety inside a walk-in cooler contributed to a Warner Robins restaurant and lounge receiving a “C” in its most recent routine health inspection.

Bon Vivant, 511 North Davis Drive, received the “marginal compliance” score of 74 at its routine inspection Jan. 8, according to what was reported Thursday in the state health department’s online portal.

The restaurant and lounge improved its score with a 96 for an “A” at its required follow-up inspection Jan. 13.

State Environmental Health inspectors assign grades based on how many points are deducted from 100, with scores at 69 and below, or a “U” grade, considered failing.

Restaurants and other food establishments that receive either a “C” or a “U” on a routine inspection are required to have follow-up inspections, which usually take place within 10 days of the routine inspection.

Marginal compliance explained

At its routine inspection, Bon Vivant earned its marginal compliance score due in part to the person in charge not ensuring time/temperature control for foods held inside the walk-in cooler, according to the report.

Other violations included:

  • Alfredo sauce and Cajun cream sauce inside the walk-in cooler were above the required temperature for food safety, according to the inspection report
  • There was an empty container of hand soap at the hand sink in the kitchen. Hand sinks are required to have hand cleaning liquid, powder or bar soap accessible at all times.
  • The best-by-dates for raw shell eggs and four containers of cottage cheese had expired
  • An ice cream scoop in the main kitchen was stored improperly on top of an ice machine.

On prior inspections included in the online portal, Bon Vivant failed its Aug. 5. 2025, routine inspection with a score of 62 for a “U.” The restaurant and lounge scored a 100 for an “A” at its follow-up inspection Aug. 7, 2025.

Bon Vivant scored 71 for a “C” at its routine inspection March 14, 2025, improving its score with a 99 at its required follow-up inspection March 21, 2025. The restaurant and lounge scored a 100 for an “A” at its routine inspection Nov. 6, 2024, and a 100 at its initial inspection Sept. 6, 2024, prior to opening.

An “A” is given for a score between 90 and 100 on Georgia Department of Public Health inspections and denotes “food safety excellence.”
