The Peach County Board of Education appointed Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Jesse Davis as interim superintendent Thursday, three days after Supt. Lionel Brown announced his retirement from the district.

Board members said Davis will serve in the role while they will begin developing a process and timeline in the coming weeks for selecting a permanent district leader.

“Dr. Davis has served as assistant superintendent for the past two years and brings extensive experience along with strong professional connections at both the state and national levels,” a news release from the Peach County Board of Education said.

Board members said Davis’ background and access to key resources position him well to lead the district during this transition period.

Prior to being named as the assistant superintendent of administrative affairs in February 2024, Davis served as principal of Peach County High School, as well as leadership roles in both the Houston County and Bibb County school district, according to a Peach County Schools social media post.

The announcement of Davis’ new role follows the board of education’s called meeting held on Wednesday.
