Peach County Schools leader retires, search underway. Who will replace him?
Peach County School District Superintendent Lionel Brown has retired from his leadership position after seven years of service, the Peach County Board of Education announced Monday.
The board said it is working together to ensure a smooth transition for stakeholders as a search is underway for a new superintendent.
“As we enter this transition, please know that our school system remains strong, stable and focused on every student,” the board said in a statement. “All schools and operations will continue as usual. Our staff remains committed to delivering excellence every day. We look forward to selecting the right leader to continue building the search for our next superintendent.”
School officials thanked Brown for his “long and dedicated career in education.”
“We are grateful for his years of leadership and service to our district,” the board said. “His commitment to our students, staff and community has made a lasting impact, and we wish him the best in this well-deserved next chapter.”
Brown was named the district’s superintendent in June 2018, according to the Peach County School District’s Facebook post. At the time of the designation, he served as an executive director of secondary operations for the Houston County School District.
Brown began his career in education in 1994 as a teacher and assistant basketball coach at Warner Robins High School, according to the district.
