‘An exciting opportunity.’ New jobs coming with aerospace plant build in Warner Robins
A KIHOMAC aerospace manufacturing plant is expected to add 75 new full-time manufacturing and engineering jobs in Warner Robins.
The 130,000-square-foot, state of the art facility is a new build in the Robins International Industrial Park off U.S. 41, which is overseen by a joint development authority of Peach County and the city of Warner Robins.
The new facility is going up at 1978 Lightning Way near a city water tower built to service the industrial park.
Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, KIHOMAC is a small veteran owned aerospace manufacturing and engineering services company whose founder and CEO Ki Ho Kang served 21 years combined in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve.
“We are thrilled to bring this new facility to Warner Robins,” Kang said in a news release. “This community represents the spirit of hard work and resilience and we’re honored to contribute to the region’s growth.”
Of the company’s 350 current employees, 60 of those work at the KIHOMAC’s existing operations at 107 Industrial Way in Bryon.
“The City of Warner Robins welcomes KIHOMAC to the city’s growing industrial landscape,” Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said in the release. “These new industrial jobs are an exciting opportunity for our residents.
“Industries like this play a vital role in sustaining and modernizing equipment essential to the operations at Robins Air Force Base,” she said.
The new plant is expected to be constructed by the end of 2025 — “significantly enhancing the local manufacturing base in support of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex at Robins Air Force Base,” according to the release.
KIHOMAC, which specializes in military aircraft parts, also supports Air Force weapon systems at Air Logistics Complexes at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma and Hill Air Force Base in Utah
The company is under a $7 million contract with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio to manufacture advanced travel pods for F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.
“KIHOMAC’s new manufacturing facility will focus on the manufacture of metal, composite and electrical components for aerospace applications both foreign and domestic,” according to the release. “As KIHOMAC expands in Warner Robins, the company aims to support economic growth in the region and meet increasing demands for aerospace innovation. “
