Delayed for almost a year, a new ‘next-gen’ Dunkin’ opens in Byron just off I-75

A long-awaited Dunkin’ in Byron opened Wednesday at 404 Ga. 49 just off Interstate 75.

The new 1,800 square foot Dunkin’ next to Chick-fil-A was initially expected to open in March of last year. A grand opening celebration is planned for Feb. 21.

The coffee and doughnut shop, which is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, offers indoor and outdoor seating.

‘Next Gen’ design

Billed as a “Next Gen” design, the restaurant sports a modern look and offers a dedicated mobile order pick-up area, according to a news release.

Customers can track the status of their mobile order placed for in-store pick-up via a digital order status board.

An On-the-Go drive-thru lane lets DD Perks members who order ahead via Dunkin’s Mobile App bypass the ordering lane and head straight into the pickup window line, the release said.

The restaurant also touts “premium pours.”

“Dunkin’s signature cold beverages are poured through an innovative tap system, serving a variety of consistently cold sips, such as iced coffee, iced tea, Cold Brew, and Nitro-Infused Cold Brew (Next Gen stores only),” the release said. “Crew members also use top-quality, flavor-maximizing espresso machines to make handcrafted drinks to order.”

The Byron store is among eight stores in Georgia owned by Dunkin’ franchisee network QSR Group, including locations in Macon and Warner Robins.

A Dunkin’ and a Jersey Mike’s Subs under one roof in Perry is under construction on Sam Nunn Boulevard just west of Interstate 75 next to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.

Founded in 1950, Dunkin’ has more than 12,600 restaurants in 40 countries worldwide, according to the release.
