Motorists can expect delays for Ga. 11 resurfacing project in Houston, Pulaski counties

A resurfacing project on Ga. 11 that starts in south Houston County and ends in Hawkinsville in neighboring Pulaski County is expected to start Friday.

Georgia Department of Transportation milling and asphalt crews are expected to be working each week day, weather permitting, on the project, according to an agency news release.

The resurfacing project extends from just south of the Henson Road intersection in Hayneville to the Ga. 230 intersection in Hawkinsville.

“To accommodate the workers and their equipment, a moving lane closure will be instituted around the immediate work zone throughout the project’s duration,” the release said. “A lane shift will be indicated with orange and white barrels directing drivers into remaining open lanes, and signage will be posted in advance of the work zone to safely guide traffic through the area.”

“Motorists are urged to lower their speeds and be alert to the actions of the crews and their equipment when driving near the work zone,” the release said.

Motorists driving through the work area can expect delays, according to the release.

The project is expected to be completed by the year’s end.
