2015 midstate year in review - October through December
6: State Sen. Ross Tolleson, R-Perry, announced he would retire from the Legislature at the end of the month after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease.
15: Jessica Ballard, 24, was charged with murder after being accused of leaving her newborn baby to die on a rural dirt road in Washington County.
15: Country star Jason Aldean, a Macon native, premiered the video for "Gonna Know We Were Here." Much of the video was filmed in Macon and at Windsor Academy, Aldean's alma mater.
19: With a week of great weather, the Georgia National Fair shattered attendance records. Officials said 501,628 people attended the 2015 fair, breaking the record of 465,053 from 2010.
19: Christopher Keith Calmer, who could face the death penalty if convicted of shooting Monroe County Deputy Michael Norris in 2014, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Forsyth. It was the first step in a capital case that was expected to last months.
22: After cutting hundreds of jobs in recent years through voluntary buyouts, the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex announced plans to hire about 200 people. Just weeks later, Robins Air Force Base announced plans to hire an additional 200 workers.
November
2: The State Supreme Court ruled in favor of Bibb County by reversing a Fulton County judge's decision regarding a boundary dispute with Monroe County. The precise location of the boundary line between the counties had been in dispute for years.
3: Macon-Bibb County voters overwhelmingly approved a 1-cent tax that was projected to generate $180 million to go toward a wish list of projects across the school district. Meanwhile, voters in Milledgeville and Baldwin County rejected a proposed merger of their two governments, while approving the continuation of a 1-cent tax for school upgrades.
4: Lee Robinson, a former Macon mayor and civic leader, died after a battle with colon cancer. He was 72.
14: Miss America Betty Cantrell returned to Warner Robins, taking part in a homecoming motorcade, a dinner and other events in her honor.
30: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump campaigned in Macon, speaking to a crowd of about 6,000 at the Macon Coliseum.
December
1: Houston County's Larry Walker III defeated five other Republicans to win the Senate District 20 seat, which had been vacated by Ross Tolleson of Perry.
21: Prosecutors announced that they were no longer seeking the death penalty against 34-year-old Amanda Hendrickson, who was accused in her 5-year-old daughter Heaven Woods' 2014 beating death. Instead she faced a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
29: Former Macon Police Chief James Avera Jr., whose more than 50-year law enforcement career also included jobs as chief deputy sheriff in Bibb and Jones counties, died at the age of 84. Avera was Macon's police chief from 1992 until his retirement from the department in 1997.
