However, there are a few things to know about setting them off, such as knowing the laws around fireworks in your area so you can celebrate legally and safely during holidays.

What are the laws regarding fireworks in Macon, GA?
According to the law in Macon: “The state law left it up to local governments to decide about the hours between 9:00 pm and 11:59 pm, and Macon-Bibb Commissioners decided to make that time a prohibited one.” This means that Macon folks have to fire the light show before 9 p.m. to make it legal.
Of course, there are a few exceptions to this law. The law in Macon allows fireworks from 10 am to midnight on Jan. 1, July 3rd and 4th and Dec. 31 and until 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Safety tips for handling fireworks
Here are some safety tips from the National Safety Council:
- Never allow young children to handle fireworks
- Older children should use them only under close adult supervision
- Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear
- Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands
- Never light them indoors
- Only use them away from people, houses and flammable material
- Never point or throw fireworks at another person
- Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting
- Never ignite devices in a container
- Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks
- Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don’t go off or in case of fire
- Never use illegal fireworks
