A Strawberry Moon will shine over GA skies soon. Here’s when & why it has that name
Pink Moon, Flower Moon and now, Strawberry Moon.
If you love tracking the moon’s different cycles, there’s a big event coming up that you won’t want to miss.
It’s called the Strawberry Moon and it peaks in June.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, “typically the last Full Moon of spring or the first of summer — has traditionally been called the Strawberry Moon,” but don’t think it’s going to be a red color.
Rather, the Strawberry Moon has to do with the traditional timing of ripening berries and the gathering of them, experts said.
So, when will the Strawberry Moon peak and be visible in the sky? Here’s what to know:

Experts said it will peak on Monday, June 29 at 7:57 p.m. (ET) and continues to be full a few days after it peaks.

Tips for viewing the Strawberry Moon
“While the moon will peak before the sun sets in certain areas, it will still look full, bright and beautiful at night, weather permitting,” said Julia Gomez with USA Today.
- Experts say to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately
- Go to a place where there isn’t a lot of extra light and grab a blanket or yard chairs
- Look up in the sky. You can use your phone’s camera zoom or a telescope for better viewing
