This GA city is 8th most affordable city in US to buy a home this year, WalletHub says
Buying a home is an exciting, but often daunting experience — from finding a good location to inspections and all the paperwork that comes with closing on a home.
However, a new WalletHub study has made one thing easy: finding which cities are the most affordable to buy a home.
And if you’re looking for a home in Georgia, there’s even better news because one Georgia city made it as the eighth most affordable in the country to buy a home in 2026.
Which city is it? Let’s take a look:
Which GA city is the most affordable to buy a home in 2026?
According to the WalletHub study, 300 cities across the country were scored based on home affordability, maintenance affordability, cost of living, tax rates and more. Experts compiled the data all together from sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau, The National Association of Realtors and the Council for Community and Economic Research.
Each score was ranked highest to lowest, from most affordable to least, with a score from 0 to 100.
In the study, Augusta, Georgia ranked the 8th most affordable place in the country to buy a home, with an overall score of 69.66. The ranking showed that Augusta had high scores in overall affordability and cost of living.
Other cities such as Flint and Detroit in Michigan, Surprise, Arizona and Memphis, Tennessee made the top five most affordable cities to buy a home in 2026.
