The hit show “Wednesday” on Netflix aired the first half of its second season this month and in my house, we are thrilled.

From her signature black attire to her double braid hairstyle and not to mention, the iconic dance from season one, my 4-year old daughter and I were instant fans of “Wednesday.” However, some scenes can be a bit scary for a kid, so unfortunately, my daughter doesn’t get to watch the show, but when Wendy’s came out with the new Wednesday-inspired meal, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and be a cool mom for the day.

So, I popped over to my local Wendy’s in Forsyth and grabbed up the “Meal of Misfortune.” But what did my daughter and I really think of the meal? Here’s what to know:

Is the new Wednesday meal at Wendy’s worth it?

On the Wendy’s website, the Wednesday meal is described as the “Meal of Misfortune,” complete with “Rest in 10-Piece Nuggets,” a “small Cursed & Crispy fry” and “a small Raven’s Blood Frosty.” The deliciously dark meal also comes with “Dips of Dread,” which are “four inferno-inspired mystery sauces.”

So, why Wednesday specifically?

“Wendy’s and Wednesday are both cultural icons famous for challenging convention with wit and a bit of sass,” said Liz Geraghty, international chief marketing officer for The Wendy’s Company. “This isn’t a typical collaboration, because not just any brand could scheme up a Meal of Misfortune with Wednesday Addams. But for a brand that’s proudly customer-obsessed and unapologetically bold, it was a match made in dark, dry-witted heaven.”

So, now that we’ve established how iconic this meal is, here’s my review:

Taste

Honestly, the meal is basically a glorified (and don’t get me wrong, super creative) 10 piece nugget meal, but with a Frosty instead of a drink. So, the taste remains the same for the nuggets and small fry.

The flavor really shines with the “Raven’s Blood Frosty” and “Dips of Dread,” which I did enjoy. The Raven’s Blood Frosty was a vanilla Frosty with a colorful and grotesque-looking black cherry flavored swirl.

My daughter loves ice cream, so she devoured this Frosty and then asked for mine (which was a hard “no,” for sure).

We did try the mystery sauce, which was appropriately described as “inferno-inspired,” because the spice was top-notch. It tasted like some sort of ghost pepper sauce and it did burn my tongue, but I couldn’t stop eating it.

Wednesday meal price

So, here’s where it gets tricky. The price of a normal ten piece nugget meal (with drink) is $8.99, but the Wednesday meal was $9.99. So basically, you’re paying an extra dollar for the switch-out of the special Frosty and no drink. Personally, I’d rather have a drink with mine, but I totally understand the push of the “Raven’s Blood Frosty,” because that pretty much made the meal more Wednesday-themed. I mean, the Frosty even came with a cute purple gravestone spoon. So, brownie points there, for sure.

Overall, I’d give the Wednesday meal at Wendy’s a 3 out of 5, mostly because I do love Wednesday on Netflix and the meal was a super creative marketing decision for the company. When I asked my daughter how many stars she would give the meal, she said, “Umm, probably 200,” so that’s a win. Cool mom status, achieved.
