GoFundMe started after 7-year-old drowns in Lake Tobesofkee. Coroner IDs victim
A 7-year-old boy who drowned in Lake Tobesofkee was identified Wednesday by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office as Tristan Cornelius.
Tristan, who drowned Friday, was swimming alongside an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy when the three went under the water.
The other two boys were rescued from the lake by Community Ambulance paramedics, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and firefighters from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, the sheriff’s office said.
Both boys were transported to the hospital. A Wednesday news release from the sheriff’s office said the 10-year-old had been released from the hospital while the 8-year-old was in critical but stable condition.
Following Tristan’s death, a GoFundMe was launched to help pay for the funeral service. The fundraiser has raised $875 of its $7,500 goal.
“Help put this sweet baby to rest in the best way possible,” the GoFundMe page reads.
According to the GoFundMe, Tristan’s funeral service is scheduled for May 31.
