Two children were recovered alive and a third was found dead after a drowning at Lake Tobesofkee, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Bibb County Fire Department, and members of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources all showed up to the lake after deputies were told that a 7-year-old, 8-year-old and 10-year-old boy all were in the water Friday afternoon and went under.

“Deputies and members of the Fire Department entered the water and recovered the eight-year-old male and ten-year-old male,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. ”They were transported to a medical facility for treatment. According to medical staff, the eight-year-old is in critical but stable condition. The ten-year-old is in stable condition.”

First responders announced around 4:30 p.m. that they found the 7-year-old unresponsive. Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone pronounced the child dead after he was removed from the water. Family had been notified, though officials hadn’t yet released the child’s name.

The incident happened at the Michael Dewayne Jones Public Fishing Area, the sheriff’s office said.
