Barricaded man shoots, kills himself in Macon home as deputies tried to arrest him, cops say

A Macon man who barricaded himself in his home when Bibb County sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve arrest warrants shot and killed himself Thursday night, authorities said.

He was identified as Lake William Greene III in a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

When deputies arrived at his Markingham Drive home shortly before 9:30 p.m., Greene barricaded himself inside and refused to come out, the release said.

Deputies were attempting to serve a Bibb County arrest warrant issued Monday for aggravated stalking, as well as a Peach County warrant issued earlier Thursday for aggravated stalking, according to the release.

Bibb County sheriff’s negotiators called to the scene were unsuccessful in getting Greene to speak with them. The Bibb County Swat Team was next called to the scene. Greene continued to refuse to talk with negotiators and would not come outside of his home, the release said.

“After three hours of attempted negotiations, the swat team made entry into the home and Greene then fatally shot himself,” the release said.

No one else was inside of the home during the incident.
