As doctors warn of deadly reactions to counterfeit drugs, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to get a good look at the pills.

The phony Percocet tablets are yellow ovals with the numbers 10/325 on one side and PERCOCET stamped in capital letters on the other side.

The word PERCOCET is not stamped as deep as genuine medication from the manufacturer, and it is imprinted at an angle.

The GBI is trying to isolate the deadly component of the pills, but everyone is urged to treat them as extremely hazardous.

Since Sunday, nearly 20 people have been hospitalized for overdoses and four have died in Middle Georgia, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. While none of the toxicology reports are complete, authorities suspect the yellow pills are the cause.

Anyone coming in contact with the pills is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
