With 33,000 job openings across the country, Amazon hosts career day for job seekers

Amazon announced Wednesday that it will be having an event called Career Day 2020 for people who are interested in the 33,000 job openings they have currently open.

A team of Amazon 1,000 recruiters giving 20,000 free career coaching sessions on Sept. 16, and attendees will learn about the current job openings in tech and corporate positions as well as thousands of additional hourly roles in Amazon’s Operations network that will be announced soon, according to a news release.

In addition to the coaching sessions, Career Day 2020 will include fireside chats, panel discussions and interviews with Amazon executives. Participants can also register for live software-code review workshops and breakout sessions about Amazon jobs, according to the release.

The company announced in March its intentions to hire 200 people in Macon as online ordering surged during the coronavirus, and Amazon still has six job openings for their Macon location listed on their website.

To participate in Career Day 2020, go to amazon.jobs/careerday and register for a coaching session with a recruiter.

All Amazon jobs come with benefits such as a $15 per hour minumum wage, health benefits, parental leave and opportunities to learn new skills, according to the release.

The unemployment rate in Georgia raised to 12.6% in April, which was a major increase from the 3.1% unemployment rate from November 2019-February 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
