Houston County schools employee tests positive for coronavirus
A Houston County School District employee who works in the district’s school nutrition program tested positive for COVID-19, according to school officials.
The employee, whose identity is being withheld due to HIPAA restrictions, has not been at work in the past week, according to the district. Everyone who had contact with the employee has been notified and are following CDC recommended procedures.
“The Houston County School Nutrition Program feeding sites will undergo deep cleaning and disinfecting prior to employees returning to prepare and distribute meals on April 3,” read a district release. “For more information about COVID-19, please visit the CDC website and see the attached Georgia Department of Health guidance. In addition, the Georgia Department of Public Health COVID-19 hotline is (844) 442-2681.”
This is the first confirmed COVID-19 case for a Houston County School District employee. The Bibb County School District has announced four employees have tested positive for the new coronavirus, including three who work at Southwest High School.
