Fourth Bibb County Schools employee tests positive for coronavirus

A fourth Bibb County School District employee — and the third who works at Southwest High School — has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Saturday, the district was notified that the employee had tested positive, Bibb County Schools said in a release. Information about the individual’s identity and condition cannot be shared due to FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

The district’s schools have been closed since March 16, and all buildings are “undergoing a deep cleaning” the district said will include multiple disinfection steps.

Students are participating in e-learning through April 24, under command from Gov. Brian Kemp.

“Those who believe they may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should contact a primary care doctor, an urgent care clinic or a local federally qualified healthcare center,” the district said in a release. “Please do not show up unannounced at an emergency room or health care facility. Additionally, the Georgia Department of Public Health has developed a hotline to answer questions related to COVID-19. That number is 844-442-2681.”
