Magoo’s dip and lemon OREO pancakes? These popular restaurants may be coming to Macon

Macon may soon get a new Huey Magoo’s and an IHOP.

The Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning Commission recently added two restaurants and other businesses to a September agenda draft.

The agenda also includes a QuikTrip and Club Colossal Event Center. The commission will vote on the new businesses in September as long as they are not removed from the agenda. All tentative businesses must be approved before construction can begin.

Huey Magoo’s is a fast-casual concept founded in 2004 by Matt Armstrong and Thad Hudgens, two southern boys with a passion for quality chicken and a penchant for serving others, according to the company website.

Menu items include Magoo’s sandwich, buffalo salad, wraps and more.

The restaurant, which refers to itself as the Filet Mignon of Chicken, would be on Bass Road and offer a drive-thru and small outdoor dining area.

It would be the first Huey Magoo’s in Macon.

Another popular restaurant listed in the agenda is IHOP. It would be the second IHOP in Macon.

According to construction plans, bids for the new construction closed in June. The chain’s only current location in Macon is on Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard.

The one-story, freestanding restaurant is planned to be about 3,200 square feet. The documents indicate plans for an outdoor covered patio, as well as a drive-up window for to-go orders.

IHOP opened its first location in Los Angeles in 1958.

The agenda listed other businesses such as QuikTrip that would be at 5201 Mercer University Drive and Club Colossal Event Center, an entertainment center that would be at 2475 Pio Nono Avenue.
