IHOP looks to expand in Macon with second restaurant. Where will it be located?
Macon residents will have breakfast restaurants right across the street from each other on Mercer University Drive, as an IHOP is expected to be built across the street from a Waffle House.
It’ll be the second IHOP in Macon. It’s unclear when the breakfast chain, known for its pancakes, will open. According to construction plans, bids for the new construction closed Wednesday. The chain’s only current location in Macon is on Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard.
The one-story, freestanding restaurant is planned to be about 3,200 square feet. The documents indicate plans for an outdoor covered patio, as well as a drive-up window for to-go orders.
IHOP opened its first location in Los Angeles in 1958.
As of June 2023, there are 1,790 IHOP restaurants around the world, including restaurants in all 50 states, two U.S. territories, and 13 countries outside of the United States, according to its website.
In addition to the pancakes that the chain is known for, the menu includes other breakfast items like omelets, waffles, crepes and French toast, as well as burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.
