Why eat out?

Three in four people will let restaurants do the cooking at some point over the holidays, according to recent survey by the National Restaurant Association.

About 57% of consumers plan to eat out, while 50% plan to order takeout or delivery, the survey found. About 77% are expected to do both

Here’s why, according to the survey:

  • Dining out or ordering a meal is a good way to support local businesses (88%)
  • It’s easier and reduces stress (82%)
  • More time to socialize with family and friends (78%)

“During the holidays—maybe more than any other time of the year—we work to make meaningful connections with people in our lives,” Michelle Korsmo, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association said in a news release. “The restaurants in our communities provide the space and the comfort to do that while sharing a meal.”
