Acworth reports cyberattack on city computer systems
The city of Acworth experienced a cyberattack against some of its computer systems on June 8, the city said in a Friday news release.
The city said law enforcement has been notified of the incident and is investigating, and that more details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
While Acworth was able to share few details, officials assured residents that city services are fully functional and that there is no impact to day-to-day operations.
This isn't the first time a government in Cobb has been the victim of a cyberattack.
The Cobb County government was hacked in March 2025 when at least one unauthorized user was detected on the county's servers. The county shut down its online systems - including court records, Wi-Fi and jail databases - for nearly a week.
During the attack, 10 people, including three county employees, had their personal information swiped. The county soon transitioned to a new website as a result of the attack.
