Marietta woman accused of stabbing husband in stomach

Teressa Sue Kelley, 55, of Marietta, is accused of taking a kitchen knife and stabbing her husband in the stomach during an argument on April 25 at 9:30 p.m. at a residence at 937 Roanoke Drive in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Police received a panic alarm at the residence and while in route, the call was upgraded to a stabbing. When police arrived, they found Kelley's husband outside holding a large wound to his stomach and an ambulance was called. After several commands to exit the home, Kelley complied and told officers that she took an entire bottle of pills to kill herself. She was transported to the hospital as well, according to the warrant.

Police were not able to interview either of them until the next morning due to their conditions. The husband said that they had both been drinking vodka in their home and an argument began. Kelley struck him in the head, breaking his glasses, before striking him several more times while he tried to defend himself. He had multiple superficial wounds to the face. The argument continued to the kitchen where Kelley grabbed two kitchen knives off the counter and began swinging wildly at him, according to the warrant.

The husband tried to grab the knifes and was able to get one away from her, but was cut multiple times on the arms. Kelley then stabbed him in the right side of the stomach. He pushed Kelley to the ground, took the other knife away and hit the panic button on their alarm system's keypad. The couple had been married for 17 years and live in the same residence, according to the warrant.

Kelley is charged with aggravated assault - intent to murder; aggravated assault weapon; and battery - family violence. She was arrested on April 25 at 10 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

Kelley remains in custody without bond.
