Marietta man arrested in human trafficking investigation

A Marietta man is accused of human trafficking and rape following a police investigation Wednesday.

Jaime Hernandez-Campos, 36, of Marietta, was arrested by Marietta Police after officers were dispatched to a home in Marietta where an 18-year-old female called to report she was the victim of rape.

The 911 call came in just before 2 a.m. and the victim reported the rape had occurred in a bathroom of the Hotel Weston at 2164 Kingston Ct. near I-75 and Delk Road, according to police.

During the rape investigation, police discovered the suspect, Hernandez-Campos, had also been sexually exploiting a 16-year-old girl for an extended amount of time. Based on the evidence collected and age of the victim, the investigation expanded to include human trafficking with help from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, per police.

According to police, Hernandez-Campos is charged with felony rape, felony aggravated sodomy and felony trafficking of persons for sexual servitude.

Hernandez-Campos is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond and is on a hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

While Hernandez-Campos is in custody, the investigation remains open as there may be additional suspects and victims.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Marietta Police Detective Darley at 770-794-5380.
