Payne City man indicted, accused of shooting man in the face
Bibb County grand jurors indicted a 34-year-old Payne City man Tuesday on allegations he shot a visitor to his home in the face last June.
Cedric Shermaine Davis, of Gardner Street, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault stemming from the June 14, 2014, encounter, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.
Anthony Hewitt, then 34, and Davis got into an argument that turned into a fight, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Davis allegedly used the gun to strike Hewitt in the face and also shot him in the face, according to the indictment.
Davis was arrested on the night of the shooting and was released on $14,500 bond four days later, according to county jail records.
