Houston DA special election headed for runoff

WARNER ROBINS — The special election for Houston County district attorney appears to be headed for a runoff Nov. 30, with a State Court prosecutor in the lead late Tuesday.

With 23 of 25 precincts reporting, unofficial votes totals showed Arthur Creque, 44, chief assistant solicitor for Houston State Court, in the lead with 7,311 votes.

Creque gathered with family, friends and supporters at a relative’s home in Kathleen to wait for the returns. He could not be reached for comment late Tuesday by telephone.

George Hartwig, 51, an assistant district attorney for Houston County, had garnered 7,101 votes, according to unofficial vote totals.

Rabb Wilkerson, 41, the current Houston County district attorney who was appointed to the post, appeared to be out of the race with 5,509 votes.
